Climate change is the global variation in the Earth's climate. This variation is due to natural causes and human action. In recent years, this temperature variation has been accelerating as a result of massive human activity. 

The global average surface temperature of the Earth has risen by almost 1 degree since the middle of the last century due to excess greenhouse gases, which is damaging both our ecosystems and our ways of life.

We are all tired of constantly hearing that we have to take care of our planet, always using the same solutions.

Today I bring you an eco-friendly idea that can help to curb our climate problem: the hydroponic crops

What does this technique consist of?

The hydroponic cultivation is a system in which the roots of the plants receive a nutrient solution dissolved in water. In this way, the fruit and vegetables obtain all the chemical elements necessary for their development without the need to use soil.

Advantages of hydroponics

1) Saving water (Although water is  essential  for the cultivation of crops, it is used efficiently in hydroponics)

2) Makes it possible to produce under limiting environmental conditions. (You only need water and sun)

3) No herbicides are used.

4) High quality crops. (The plants grow faster and the presence of pests and diseases is much lower. )

5) Saving in fertilisers.

6) It does not cause weeds and weed problems.

7) Requires less space and cultivation time.

What do I need for cultivate?

Starting a home hydroponic crop requires only three steps and the following materials: 

-seeds

-containers (plastic bottles, trays or pots)

-substrates (sawdust, tezontle, coconut fibre or gravel) and a standardised nutrient solution for any type of crop or create your own. 

All in all, growing in this way is very simple. If you want to grow your own lettuce at home in an ecological way, this is the ideal way! It is an environmentally friendly system and it is so convenient.
